RU-486… safe?

The New York Times has come out with this article on the RU-486 (Mifeprex) drug used for abortions. These instances may be rare, but are they really?

Information about the Clostridium sordellii infections has emerged slowly because the drug agency largely relies on voluntary reports by doctors, patients and others to identify drug problems and side effects.

Clostridium sordellii infections can lead to Toxic Shock.

In each case, Clostridium sordellii infected the women’s uteruses, flourished and then entered their bloodstreams. The bacterium can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and weakness but may not induce fever, so victims often fail to realize how sick they are until it is too late and succumb to toxic shock. Antibiotics are often ineffective once an infection has flourished because even in death, the bacteria release toxins.

These numbers are only as good as the patient or Doctors reports them. What if Planned Parenthood’s doctors are the ones who distribute RU-486? According to the NY Times, they are the largest abortion market in the US. Is it beneficial for them to report such deaths related to RU-486? Would it be unethical? Yes, but could they be reporting a cause of death as something else because it attacks the immune system. You may actually die from something else, like kidney failure, pneumonia, or heart failure to name a few. Or could it be just as simple as saying they dies from AIDS? Which is also an immune problem as well?

I also have issue with the fact that this infection is alive, even after death!!! (Is this a Left Behind; Hattie moment or what?)

Wendy Wright, executive vice president of Concerned Women for America, a conservative group, said that the latest news about deaths involving Mifeprex proved that the drug was unsafe. Ms. Wright also speculated that more women were dying after using the drug but that their deaths were going unreported.

I agree with Wendy Wright as I’ve stated above and that there may be related problems with this drug that aren’t thought to be related. Here’s another thought… if unbalanced hormones after post pregnancy could cause a women to think, and sometimes act, about harming her baby… then what kind of imbalances could happen with this drug that is telling the women to expel this baby from her body? I am wondering if there are sufficient follow ups (mentally as well as physically) once this induced abortion takes place?

Here is the link to the article for you to read on this matter.

Now I would like to take the opportunity to talk to women who find themselves in a Crisis Pregnancy and strangely enough find themselves on this Blog site.

In my 20’s, I worked at a Crisis Pregnancy Center. I know that there seem to be easy answers to an unwanted pregnancy, but they aren’t easy at all. You will have remorse, your body will be physically altered for life, and your hormones will be wacko! Having a baby isn’t an easy thing, but it is much tougher on you all the way around if you don’t do what you body is meant to do. It seems to be the most unwanted advice… but if you take the responsibility to do the act, you should face the possible consequences of your actions. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Take the opportunity to get outside of yourself and do what is right. You will affect more than just you if you have the abortion. If you can’t keep the baby, give it a chance. Give your baby up. Yes it will be hard but this is your chance to make the world a better place. You could affect other people in a very positive way. I have nothing but respect for women who have found themselves in a Crisis Pregnancy situation and choose to give their child a chance for life and I have nothing but sadness for those who have chose abortion. You can’t fathom the numbers of people who can’t have children and are waiting to love and care for your baby!

I have two very close family members who have had Crisis Pregnancies. One chose to give their baby up for adoption and the other chose abortion. One has thoughts of how their child is and the other has had to deal with a guilt that they didn’t even talk about for 10 years. One knows that their child is walking around somewhere experiencing whatever life has to offer and the other knows that child never had that chance. But what they both know now is the love that Christ has for them and they both trust in Him daily for the forgiveness that He has given them.

If you don’t know that kind of love that loves you unconditionally, please pray to Him and ask Him to come into your heart and start fresh with Him. Ask for His forgiveness and please ask Him for His guidance.

John 3:16&17 says: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
