No Immediate Troop Withdrawl From Iraq
The House of Representatives just defeated a Non-Binding Resolution (HR 571). Here are the final vote totals:
Yes - 3
No - 403
Present - 6
Did Not Vote - 22
The 6 that voted present were all Democrats and all wimps. They could not even take a stand on this issue. They were Capuano, Clay, Hinchey, McDermott, Nadler, and Owens.
The 3 who voted to withdraw troops immediately were also all Democrats, McKinney (Georgia), Serrano (New York), and Wexler (Florida). John Linder (R-GA) had voted Yes, but changed his vote before the finaly tally. It was strange to hear his name, so this must have been a mistake.
Also, the man who started this all was John Murtha (D-PA) who called for the immediate withdrawal of troops only yesterday, voted No to the immediate withdrawal. He can’t even stand on his convictions for one day. No one should listen to this guy again. He is now taking the Kerry approach, say one thing, but do another. Maybe they can have a second vote so he can also say he voted against it before voting for it.
I was very glad to hear the Republicans had called for this vote. Hopefully, they will continue to stand up for out troops and show some backbone. The Democracts have nothing to offer, but complaints, defeatism and obstruction.
