No More Christian Nice Guy

No More Christian Nice Guy by Paul Coughlin is an easy and fun read. I find much of what he says very insightful. I also know there will be many people who not like the direct style he takes in confronting the myths of Christian men having to always be nice.
Paul goes into the subject with some background of how he came to realize the Jesus was always good, but not always nice. There is a huge difference between being nice and being good that Paul explains very well. Again, he will offend some of you readers out there. He uses many examples in scripture to show the biting sarcasm and wit of Jesus. He talks about Jesus’ use of righteous anger. Many today, never hear much about this aspect of Jesus’ life in churches today.
While reading this book, I could not help but reflect how my life as changed over time. I used to be this quiet nice guy who never spoke out about anything. I am sure you can tell now from my writings, I don’t have that problem anymore. I agree with Paul that there are too many people and especially men who believe to be a Christian you should never get angry, never raise your voice, never be sarcastic, never speak out against lies and injustices, etc. These ideas are wrong and Paul helps you see the truth.
This book will encourage you to be good instead of being nice. If you already know this truth it will help you to be bolder with your convictions. It will strengthen your resolve to tell others this truth. It may even compel you to take a stand and face persecution and/or ridicule in the face of injustice. It will shatter your naive belief/myth that being like Jesus means being a wimp. Stand up and be a man.
I would recommend this book to all Christian men, especially leaders in our churches. Start a small group with this book. You and the participants will greatly enjoy this book.
I received this book free via Mind & Media to review.

I think they would if they want to understand men better. I would think wives would get more out of it than single women definetely.
